Permanent joining and bonding technologies for hook and loop fastener systems:Ultrasonic welding – joining without sewing

Stable and durable: wherever stable and durable connections of hook-and-loop fastener systems – preferably without seams – are required, this process guarantees success for your product: ultrasonic welding from kragoTEC®.

The joining and bonding technology of the ultrasonic welding process is designed to permanently, firmly and inseparably join different surfaces and materials. Find out whether this technology could be useful for your project ...

Exceptionally stable: Permanent connections through ultrasonic welding

Unlike traditional or conventional joining methods, which are usually based on sewing or adhesive technologies, the ultrasonic method goes one crucial step further. For certain projects, it makes sewing or adhesive methods completely unnecessary. For example, when the use of potentially very long seams would be impractical or inefficient. At the same time, joints achieved using ultrasonic technology are extremely stable and durable.

What are the advantages of ultrasonic welding?

  • Durable and hard-wearing joints
  • Flexibly adaptable to different materials and shapes
  • Exact, reproducible and attractive results (very flat connection surfaces) thanks to precise control technology
  • Environmentally friendly and energy-saving solution without the production of waste materials

Background information on ultrasonic welding

Ultrasonic technology is used very successfully in industry – with the aim of achieving the most seamless and stable welding possible of various materials, such as plastics or non-woven fabrics. Accordingly, ultrasonic technology can also be used effectively for modern hook-and-loop fastener solutions. Perhaps for your project too.

Brief explanation: How does the ultrasonic welding process work?

The connection technology of ultrasonic welding works by converting high voltage into mechanical vibrations – ultrasonic waves (silent sound waves) – using a generator.

So-called sonotrodes introduce the mechanical vibrations into the materials to be joined. Friction heat is generated – and the materials begin to fuse together at the molecular level as desired.

At the end of the process, the materials can be joined together under pressure with a precise fit.

Weather-resistant alternative with adhesive: high-frequency welding

Wherever an adhesive is also required as a force transmitter, the company also offers professional users high-frequency welding technology, known as HF welding. This technology may be the ideal solution for joining complex shapes or products that need to be particularly weather-resistant, such as tarpaulins, tents and similar items. High-frequency welding technology is basically an adhesive process that activates and optimises the adhesive used.
